Petshopmania - Shops around the World

Finally Guys!!

After several months working along with a very talented crew,Petshopmania, the game were my classmate Marina Vidal and myself made all the illustrations, has been released!!! =D

It's a very addictive and challenging game, I must say that I enjoyed looking and being part of the process of creating a game, was a wonderful experience throughout these months, were not only I saw and realize how much work this takes to be done, even being a small game, but I could also see, along with my classmate, that as illustrators, this kind of challenges makes us better, at least that's what I can tell from the firsts ideas and sketches we had.

As the game goes through pet shops around the world, I was requested to make the backgrounds for each of them, while my classmate was asked to make the animals that were inside.

And here I introduce you all the pet shops backgrounds I made for the game =)

African Pet Shop

Chinese Pet Shop

Poles Pet Shop

Indian Pet Shop

Martian Pet Shop

Sea Pet Shop

Throughout the development we were also asked to make other ilustrations for the game, for example, I made the background for the main menu, but I also used the animals Marina made previously; the slide menu were you choose the worlds were something that I made too using backgrounds and animals made previously; also the inside of every shop was drawn by me, and the shop were you can buy coins and stuff was made by Marina.

Obviously this was a team work, the developers and designers made a fantastic job giving life  to this nice game, so I basically give all my thanks to them who did and still doing a great work =D

If you think I'm fooling you, try Petshopmania yourself, and you'll see that I'm no joking, for the apple users the game will come out in less than a week I guess, I'll post the link here as soon as  possible =D

And here you have the page of Marina Vidal Illustrations, so you can see some of her work too =)

Well guys, see you soon and
expect some Sketch Corner for the end of the week!

Byeee!! =D

Fast-Painting 2

Hi Guys!

Since I've been doing some of this fast-painting, I guess I can make a some kind of
series if this gets enough love =D

These were made with Corel Painter 11 in less than 3 hours, finally I got the
chance to test better the program and see how it's like.

These are based on Under the Dome novel by Stephen King, if you had read it, you might know
what's going on xD

Enjoy!!

Fast-Painting

A while ago I made a fast-painting,
it was a pretty nice thing to try, but I must say, doing it on traditional media
is quite a journey, you just don't put whatever you want wherever you want.

I made this first one with a Watercolor base and then used Gouache to create the more thick and opaque parts, almost all the strokes were made with an sponge to get that texture, at the end I just didn't use much water so I could make drier strokes.

Then we have this one, I made it on Painter, first time I used this program, I couldn't get
the same feeling as in the traditional, but as a first touch this was pretty nice, I made it on  half hour more  or less, I can't wait to get a new computer to test more this program, even though it's more complicated than Photoshop you get other interesting results =D

In case I get the chance, I'll bring you more speed paintings and stuff made with Painter.

Hope you liked it

See You!!

Ni No Kuni IS HERE!! =D

Well, Here is IT! =D
So far an awsome game, you feel surrounded by the magic of  the Studio Ghibli, and
all the details they gave to the whole world of Ni No Kuni is just crazy.
Even the Wizard's Companion Book is so well detailed in every way, you can imagine you can actually live the same adventures as Oliver does.
Very recommended for the Studio Ghibli's fans. A Masterpeace so far!! =D

This is a photo of the Wizard's Edition I got last saturday, a must buy just for the amount of effort and love they put to this project.

And to celebrate it, a quick drawing I made from one of the characters, a Mite Familiar prepared for the fight! =D

Hope u liked this post, see you! =D

The Hunter's Son - Red Riding Hood custom story

This Kinda talks by itself, so, I'll just let you know that "This" is
what took me almost the whole Christmas holidays to do, and the one to blame
for not posting anything for almost a month now.

The Idea was to make 5 illustrations of the RRH story, almost everyone was doing it
based on the main story, so I basically made up what happened after that story ended.

As it was a custom story I had to make more illustrations so it could be more
believable, and also because I like to suffer, looks like...

So, here you have it!

The Hunter's Son
Red Riding Hood Custom Story

Well, I think that's a whole month of almost rage quit endless work haha

But I actually had a lot of fun with the drawings, learned a few things too, but must
important, now I realize I need a new computer, soon...

Hope u liked it!! see you! =D

Mr. Kneeless

People!!

Here I introduce you Mr. Kneeless, This is the story of how we met...

Enjoy!!

Di END! =D

Hahaha, was kinda funny looking at this again =)

Well, I guess u want an explanation about what's this, don't you?

Last year on Photography class we had to make a story with 10 photographs. As I'm
ugly as hell, the option of Me being the main character of the story was totally discarded, so, as
I'm studying Illustration, making a character was a very good idea.

I saw a lot of people doing this kind of interaction with paper characters, so I wanted to give
it a try, and this was the result =D

Mr. Kneeless and the background were made with watercolor and a black pen on a 370gr watercolor paper. I made the photos with a PENTAX camera and then added some final touches with Photoshop.

Hope you enjoyed and laughed as much as I did!

See you guys!! =O

Testing snimation skills

Hey there guys!!

Wanted to bring something new to this place, and since I have some
animation tests, I wanted to bring them little by little.

What you see here is one of the animation test I made two years ago for a project I had in mind. The technique, for those who don't know it, is called Rotoscoping.

I found this explanation on Wikipedia (oddly):

Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over footage, frame by frame, for use in live-action and animated films. Originally, recorded live-action film images were projected onto a frosted glass panel and re-drawn by an animator. This projection equipment is called a rotoscope, although this device has been replaced by computers in recent years. In the visual effects industry, the term rotoscoping refers to the technique of manually creating a matte for an element on a live-action plate so it may be composited over another background.

You can find a lot of ways to make it, the one I used is the one I discovered, I know that is very sure some else did it this way before me, but, by the time I did it, I didn't even knew the name of the technique, so, yeah, I'm kinda slow...

it's very simple, I recorded myself doing this movement, then I uploaded all the 46 frames to Photoshop, in order as layers, then i just had to draw every frame, eliminate the video frames and then save as Gif. document, then you just have to adjust some stuff about the speed of every frame and some basics, save and Here you go!

And for those who wonder how do I take all the flesh leaving my hand bones outside...
I just didn't, yeah, I haven't learned how to do that... yet, I managed to create every bone from the form of the hand and having some refferences from anatomy books, I'm very proud of the result =)

Hope u like it people!! =D

More of this soon...
